My Caramel Colored Dream
By Oscar S. Cisneros
Like honey in the sun or coffee sweet with lots of cream
Is the delicate delight of my caramel colored dream.
Thin, but dark eyebrows arched by questions gently posed
Make you feel at ease even as you are deposed.
And why not speak the truth to one whose honesty shows true?
One look into her eyes and you begin to drop the ruse.
Give it up, just be honest, she has no cruel intentions;
The truth is what she seeks judging by her fair complexion:
The look, something sweet, something tender in her eyes
A strong and patient woman so youthful yet so wise.
