Our
Clothes for Summertime
By Oscar S. Cisneros
Pluck off but all these weeds,
Summer's finally here
And the colors of the reeds
Are in fashion this time of year.
But you and I know
Have a different plan in mind
As we walk where it once snowed
To buy our clothes for summertime.
Black and charcoal gray
And the occasional deep blood red
Still suit us well today,
Be they the colors of the dead.
We'll spruce it up with white
In an homage to the season
And choose our grays a shade more light.
Why change the basics for no reason?
How fun it is to shop
With my dark one
with light skin
I feel like such a fop;
To me her fashion's always in.
